What can PAIN-X-2000 1900X actually do?

1. Increase vascularity (circulation) by increasing the formation of new capillaries, which are additional blood vessels that replace damaged ones. New capillaries speed up the healing process by carrying more oxygen as well as more nutrients needed for healing and they can also carry more waste products away.

2. Stimulate the production of collagen. Collagen is the most common protein found in the body. Collagen is the essential protein used to repair damaged tissue and to replace old tissue. It is the substance that holds cells together and has a high degree of elasticity. By increasing collagen production less scar tissue is formed at the damaged site. Because of the production of collagen which is induced by the PAIN-X-2000™, we have seen an increase tensile strength and elasticity in scar tissue. This allows the scar tissue to withstand movement without breaking down over time.

3. Stimulate the release of adenosine triphosphate (ATP). ATP is the major carrier of energy to all cells. Increases in ATP allow cells to accept nutrients faster and get rid of waste products faster by increasing the energy level in the cell. All food turns into ATP before it is utilized by the cells. ATP provides the chemical energy that drives the chemical reaction of the cell.

4. Increase lymphatic system activity. Edema, which is the swelling or natural splinting process of the body, has two basic components. The first is a liquid part which can be evacuated by the blood system and the second is comprised of the proteins which have to be evacuated by the lymphatic system. Research has shown that the lymph vessel diameter and the flow of the lymph system can be doubled with the use of light therapy. The venous diameter and the arterial diameters can also be increased. This means that both parts of edema (liquid and protein) can be evacuated at a much faster rate to relieve swelling

5. Increase RNA and DNA synthesis. This helps damaged cells to be replaced more promptly.

6. Reduce the excitability of nervous tissue. The photons of light energy enter the body as negative ions. This calls upon the body to send positive ions like calcium among others to go to the area being treated. These ions assist in firing the nerves thereby relieving pain. Back to top

7. Stimulate fibroblastic activity which aids in the repair process. Fibroblasts are present in connective tissue and are capable of forming collagen fibers.

8. Increase phagocytes, which is the process of scavenging for and ingesting dead or degenerated cells by phagocyte cells for the purpose of clean up. This is an important part of the infection fighting process. Destruction of the infection and clean up must occur before the healing process can take place.

9. Induce a thermal like effect in the tissue. The light raises the temperature of the cells through a Photo-Chemical reaction.

10. Stimulate tissue granulation and connective tissue projections, which are part of the healing process of wounds, ulcers or inflamed tissue.

11. Stimulate acetylcholine release. Acetylcholine causes cardiac inhibition, vasodilatation, gastrointestinal peristalsis and other parasympathetic effects.

PAIN-X 2000™ and your Horse

It is truly wonderful to watch your horse react to the PAIN-X-2000™. Their reactions will vary but they do not lie. You can use your PAIN-X-2000™ in cold or hot conditions, if your horse is dry or wet, basically anytime you want. External conditions will not change the way PAIN-X-2000™ works with your horse. The simplest way we have found to use the PAIN-X-2000™ is just by simply starting at the neck of the horse and follow their skeletal system. Leave the PAIN-X-2000™ from 5 to 10 seconds on an area, if the horse reacts to this area, leave until the horse softens or relaxes. General relaxation, lowering of head, licking lips, yawning, muscle relaxation, defecation and urination are all signs that the energy is being balanced. It can be said that the animal becomes more passive during treatment. After this is seen go to the next area. As you work with your horse, you will soon learn his/her problem areas, but it never hurts to go over the whole horse to make sure all areas of discomfort are stimulated. When touching your horse notice his/her reaction to various points and parts of their body. For example, you may see drawing in of the flanks, backing of the ears, wrinkling of nose, swishing tail, biting, muscle pulsations and vibrations. On these areas that react, just place your PAIN-X-2000™ on that area until the area is satisfied. Back to top

It is important to learn to touch your horse and know his responses to your touch. Your hands should be tools of communication, to listen and to speak, to sense temperature changes, to stretch and move muscles and limbs, and awaken them to unknown possibilities. Learn to see with your hands, not your eyes. Your horse will also learn new awareness to their bodies, a fully mobility, and a sense of well-being. Pamela Hanney's book Touching Horses is an excellent book on this subject.

She also shares how to use your hands to help your horse. We have found a wonderful effect of PAIN-X-2000™ when you are using your hands. When you find a tight spot, a knot, a "threadlike" area, etc, just place your PAIN-X-2000™ on this area and you will feel it soften. For example, when working behind the elbow area of the horse, many times you will find knots, strings and tight spots, just place your PAIN-X-2000™ on this area for about a minute and then feel the area again. You will start to see the area soften and become nice and flexible. You may have to reapply the PAIN-X-2000™ depending on just how tight the area is. When horses' know our intentions and they will rarely refuse help from us unless a memory is just too painful. We need to honor his senses, his needs, his instincts, and his individuality. You may have to work this area over several days. Remember in most cases these problems areas did not happen over night. If your horse tells you he has had enough, honor his wishes. Sometimes just working another area will help you be able to come back to the "upsetting" area. Again, Touching Horses shows these techniques.Have you taken a step back and tried to look into your horse? Learn to ask yourself, is there a physical reason why my horse is acting the way he is? It is an investment of time and effort that will be rewarding for your and your horse. As Pamela Hanney says, "Horses have so much to say to those who 'listen." We hope you will learn to understand the physical communication that your horse is telling us. We feel that when you find a "ticklish" horse, "girthy" horse, "head shy" horse, or etc. you need to consider what they are trying to tell us. Sometimes this is the only way they can tell us what is going on. We need to learn to see, to hear and comprehend what they are saying. There are several other wonderful books that can help you expand your knowledge. Some of these books are listed at the end of this section.

Chinese acupuncture and meridian principals are a complex study in themselves. You can take these principals and apply them using your PAIN-X-2000™. This type of therapy is known as photo puncture. These points can be predictably applied to recognize problems in your horses and thus, enable you to take early measures of detection and/or correction. Again we can not stress enough that PAIN-X-2000™ is only an adjunctive therapy. Always consult your veterinarian. There are many books on the market that will help educate you more on acupuncture and their meridians if this is of interest to you. It is not our intent to fully educate on this subject. We only want to share with you some of the points that we have found work well with the PAIN-X-2000™. The time involved on leaving the lights on a spot will vary from 15 seconds to 2 minutes. Watch your horse's reaction. Response may be a quivering of the muscle, movement away from the PAIN-X-2000™, retraction of the back, or sometimes, when a point is very painful, even an attempt to kick or bite.

When points are stimulated, endorphins can be released. Endorphins are the body's pain reducing substances. Stimulation can also relieve muscle spasms, a primary cause of pain in arthritic conditions. Point stimulation can increase the blood supply to the ailing area, increasing the supply of nutrition and oxygen to the cells. Stimulation can release the body's natural cortisone which reduces swelling. Stimulating certain points can measurably increase antibody production. The use of PAIN-X-2000™ can increase the immune system activity which can reduce infection and relieve low grade fever. PAIN-X-2000™ can also affect digestion, blood flow, the nervous system functions, hormone levels, and the function of the organs. A chronic problem may require three to four times as many sessions with the PAIN-X-200™0 as an acute problem. A further method of using your PAIN-X-2000™ is by specific recommendation from your veterinarian.

Please note no condition should be continuously treated longer than 21 days without a rest period of one week. Thereafter, treat only every other week, with one week rest between. As with almost any type of treatment, the body tends to get accustomed to what is happening and begins to ignore the treatment. For this same reason, PAIN-X-2000™ if often effective in treating old chronic conditions because it awakens the body to recognize a condition it has come to ignore. With any condition, it should be treated until it has healed.

When using the PAIN-X-2000 it is desirable to have it as close to the skin as possible so the maximum amount of light penetrates the area under therapy. However, there are times when this could be harmful to the handler. If the horse is extremely sore, for example in the groin area, stand at a safe distance.

Also there may be times when treating open wounds that this can be messy and unsanitary. When treating wounds, please consult your veterinarian. If he/she agrees that PAIN-X-2000™ would be beneficial only leave the lights there until a clear serum appears. At that point stop treatment for the day. You can work all around the area of the wound to help with blood flow. Please remember: a horse is a very large animal and can react suddenly, be prepared and be alert! Back to top

Why do we use different wavelengths/colors?

The different wavelengths have shown different result in studies. This is why we have combined several basic wavelengths in our units. By combining these it give you a very beneficial tool in the treatment of all types of injuries and problems. We use LED's which are non-coherent, because they are cheaper than Laser Diodes and more effective. Laser's can be very dangerous when not used properly or by properly trained people. The PAIN-X-2000™ is completely safe to use. Some laser manufacturers state that for deep muscular/skeletal problems, you need at least 100mw. The PAIN-X-2000™ provides well over this amount. This type of therapy has a success rate of over 90%. The energy given off by the hand-held portable unit is absorbed into the body. You may or may not feel a warming effect during your treatment. The different wavelengths have shown different result in studies. This is why we have combined several basic wavelengths in our units. By combining these it give you a very beneficial tool in the treatment of all types of injuries and problems. Because of the green lights and the frequencies of the red and infrared lights, and in some models also orange and yellow, when you place it on a sore spot, you or your animal may feel a sort of tingling sensation just as you leg waking up from being asleep. The blood flow is actually increasing.

    The red and infrared diodes are absorbed by the skin, muscles, tissues, bone as well as working at the physical cellular level.
    The green diodes are absorbed by the Bio-Electro-Magnetic Energy Field (E-Field) which surrounds the body. It is here that the stress and strain build up and develop into "weak spots." If these spots are not eliminated from the E-Field, eventually under hard work or performance pressure they can become problem areas. Green is also considered a master color and has reported usefulness as an anti-inflammatory as well as for painful joints and allergies.
    The orange light is considered a rejuvenating color. It can help with muscle cramps and boosts energy in the lungs and stomach.
    The yellow lights can be great stimulants for the sensory and motor nervous system, as well as toning muscles. It helps to increase your energy state. It, reportedly, helps relieve arthritis pain and improves the lymphatic system.
    The blue lights are believed to be contractors and restrictors.They have reportedly helped with burns, headaches, fever, etc., as well as provided a calming and relaxing effect. The blue lights are available in the switchable model.

There are many other colors that are used in color therapy, however, we feel at this time the combination we have developed are appropriate for general use.The "warm colors" are of positive polarity and the "cool" colors are of the negative polarity.

What is the difference between the and Laser Products ?
Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs) are another form of light therapy that is a relatively recent development of the laser industry. LEDs are similar to lasers inasmuch as they have the same healing effects but differ in the way that the light energy is delivered. A significant difference between lasers and LEDs is the power output. The peak power output of LEDs is measured in milliwatt, while that of lasers is measured in watts. However, this difference when considered alone is misleading, since the most critical factor that determines the amount of energy delivered is the duty cycle of the device.

LED devices usually have a 50% duty cycle. That is, the LED pulse is "on" for 0.5 seconds and "off" for 0.5 seconds versus the 200/1,000,000,000 (200 billionths) of a second burst from laser at 1 cycle per second (1 hertz). Moreover, LED is "on" 50% of the time and "off" 50% of the time regardless of what frequency setting (pulses per second) is used. On the contrary, the laser is "on" for 0.000000000005 of a second and "off" for 0.999999999995 of the second. In short, the LED diodes emit more than 33% more energy than a comparable laser diode because of the substantially longer duty cycle, even though the peak output is less.

In the majority of lasers on the market, the energy output varies with the frequency setting: the lower the frequency, the lower the output. In the PAIN-X-2000™ system on the contrary, the output is constant regardless of frequency. Even in the case of lasers that claim a peak output of 10 watts, because of the very short duty cycle, the average output at the highest frequencies is about 10 milliwatts. At the lower frequencies, however, the average output plummets into the range of microwatts (1 microwatt = 1000th of 1 watt).

LEDs do not deliver enough power to damage the tissue, but they do deliver enough energy to stimulate a response from the body to heal itself. With a low peak power output but high duty cycle, the LEDs provide a much gentler delivery of the same healing wavelengths of light as does the laser but at a substantially greater energy output. For this reason, LEDs do not have the same risk of accidental eye damage that lasers do.

Moreover, LEDs are neither coherent nor collimated and they generate a broader band of wavelengths than does the single-wavelength laser. Non-collimation and the wide-angle diffusion of the LED give a greater ease of application, since light emissions are able to penetrate a broader surface area. Moreover, the multiplicity of wavelengths in the LED, contrary to the single-wavelength laser, may enable it to affect a broader range of tissue types and produce a wider range of photochemical reactions in the tissue.

If LED disperses over a greater surface area, this results in a faster treatment time for a given area than laser. The primary reason that PAIN-X-2000™ chose the LEDs over lasers is that LEDs are safer, more cost effective, provide a gentle but effective delivery of light and a greater energy output per unit of surface area in a given time duration. They are offered in combinations of visible red light at 660nm and infrared light at from 830nm to 930nm, with 880nm as their average, thereby stimulating a broader range of tissue types.The PAIN-X-2000 is FDA cleared for human infrared therapy. Why does the PAIN-X-2000™ have such a high power rating than other brands?
High average power is required to get the penetration and to get the job done fast. The several different wavelengths used in the PAIN-X-2000™ are very effective at penetrating living tissue without any harmful side effects.

In order to understand the following information you will need to know the following terms and what they really mean.
Wavelength = Measured in Nanometers, determines the color of the LED.
Pulsing = The turning off and on of an LED at various rates.
Frequencies = Our competitors word for rate of pulsing or turning off and on LED's

Some companies advertise they are selling 7 frequencies of light, when in fact they only have 2 or 3 wavelengths of light and are pulsing them 7 different ways. ( The pulsing of light only means that the lights are turned off and on at various rates.) A LED is on 100% of the time so if you pulse the LED it may be off even more than it is on. The LED's in the PAIN-X-2000 are on 100% of the time. This helps explain why some of our competitors' products take longer to treat the patient.

Example:
Let's say you were treating with a 10 LED array and the lights were not pulsed (different frequencies of operation) and it took 5 minutes to perform the treatment.

If you used a competitors unit that had the same 10 LED array and it was pulsed (Frequency of operation changed) to a 50% duty cycle. It would then take 10 minutes or twice as long to deliver the same amount of energy for the treatment!

The idea behind pulsing is to save battery power on portable units. Since it takes longer to complete the treatment you are really not saving battery power. Our units use continuous wave diodes. We have found that these provide us with outstanding results.

Beware of sellers who state that their LEDs produce 100 mw for each diode! In order to produce an output that high, the unit would have to have a couple of thousand LEDs. As a customer, you should ask them for their testing results. PAIN-X output was tested and calculated by a professional testing company, Martech Optolectronics, using a Photo Research model PR-650 and Optronic Labs Model OL-730 LED measuring equipment capable of measuring the actual Mw output of our specific LED's.

The following are definitions of commonly used terms used in connection with the use of light therapy devices.
1. Visible Light: light that is within the visible spectrum, 400nm (violet) to 700nm (red)
2. Infrared Light: light in the invisible spectrum below red, from 700nm to 2,000nm
3. Polychromatic: lights that are more than one color or wavelength of light
4. Monochromatic: light that is of one color, or one wavelength
5. Nanometer(nm): a unit of measure of wavelength of light (one billionth of a meter)
6. Nanosecond: one billionth of a second
7. Joule (J): unit used to measure the energy delivered
8. Watts:(w) and Milliwatt (nw): units used to measure the power capability. Milliwatt is 1/1000th of a watt.
9. Peak power output: the maximum output of power, measured in milliwatts and watts
10. Average power: amount of power actually delivered in a given time

Conclusion: Why pay more for less.

Infrared therapy utilizes light energy in the invisible range of light. "Infra means beyond, and infrared rays are just beyond the visible red range of light in the spectrum, thus we cannot see the Infrared light emitted from the treatment unit.
The energy given off by the hand held portable unit is absorbed into the body and caused the effects listed above. You may or may not feel a warming effect during your treatment.

This type of therapy has been cleared by the Food and Drug administration and is the latest infrared technology on the market.
